Receive WinScry Alert Notifications via text messages on your cell phone!
In the WinScry Client Console whenever you create (or edit) a Conditional Alert or File API Alert you have the option of configuring that alert to deliver an Alert Notification email to your cell phone carriers' SMS Gateway whenever that alert is triggered. If you enable SMS Text Messaging then whenever the WinScry Windows Service delivers an email alert it will also deliver a short text email to your SMS Gateway address.
Most major cell phone service providers give their customers the option of receiving emails as SMS text messages. To send a WinScry Alert Notification to your cell phone you simply enter your 10 digit cell phone number followed by @<yourcarriergateway.com>.
Example: If your cell phone carrier is Verizon and your cell phone number is 555-123-4567 then you would enter 5551234567@vtext.com in the SMS Gateway Address field.
•Verify with your own carrier whether they offer an SMS gateway and whether your particular plan can use it. •Test your carrier by sending a short email from your own email account (in Outlook, etc) to your SMS gateway address and verify that you actually get the SMS message on your cell phone. |

Troubleshooting SMS Text Messaging
If you have enabled SMS Text Messages on a WinScry Alert but you are NOT receiving the text message on your cell phone when that alert is triggered verify the following:
•Did you receive the email alert? If not then this is the problem. The Client Console will not dispatch the alert notification to the SMS Gateway if it fails (or thinks that it failed) to dispatch the email alert. Email delivery failures of this type can usually be found in the System Logs.
•Have you verified that your SMS Gateway Address is correct? This is very easy to verify, just use your own email (in Outlook, Gmail, etc) to send a short email message to your SMS Gateway Address and then confirm that you receive that email as a text message on your cell phone. If you do not, then work with your Cell Phone Service Provider to resolve the issue.
